Hi. Welcome to our English conversation practice free content page. This page lists some exercises from previous business classes.

One of the features of our Business English Course is to help people with understanding Australian English and Business Expressions. We discuss some of the phrases used in a dialogue example and help students to understand how they can be used in a business setting.

You're welcome to print and test yourself on these phrases. If you would like more exercises, why not join one of our Business English courses?!

Drawbacks in taking the plunge straight away.

J:      Our principal aims and objectives today at Plasma News is to discuss taking the plunge into a partnership with Deliveries R Us Co.
K:     Thank you. Actually, we’ve been toying with the idea of connecting with a news organisation for awhile.
J:      We currently need to deliver 1,000 boxes of our product to CBD newsagencies every morning, no later than 5.00am. When can we have this up and running?
K:     We could get that off the ground in about 3 weeks time. We’d hire new staff and update shift times for you. I don’t want to put you off but currently delivery times are 6:00am-1:00am.
J:      Hmm. I suppose there are drawbacks in everything. We had set our sights on a launch date next week but, taking this into account...
K:    We could still go ahead with the deliveries starting next week at 6:00am.
J:      I’ll look into it, but we need to get the Plasma News screens delivered at the same time as the newspapers to be seen as a worthwhile competitor.
K:    I see. The problem on our end is finding delivery people for that time. I could get one delivery person by next week that could do it but he’d only be able to deliver 100 boxes before 5am.
J:      Ok. Let’s go for it. As long as the major newsagencies get it by 5am, word will spread.
K:    Fantastic. I’ll get onto my agents straight away.
